Looking at Mayweather-Cotto 24/7 Episode 2: Both Fighters Embrace Loyalty

Mayweather vs Cotto - Episode 2 of HBO’s “24/7” series promoting the upcoming junior welterweight championship clash between champion Miguel Cotto and pound for pound star Floyd Mayweather Jr. was shown on HBO this past weekend. Floyd’s fiancé Ms. Jackson made her first appearance in the series and explained the unbreakable bond she shares with her man. Mayweather meanwhile definitely seems to appreciate the warm presence she brings to his hectic life.

Floyd also took some time to explain his chaotic relationship with his father. After a nasty argument occurred during Floyd’s preparation for the Victor Ortiz fight a few months ago between the two, Mayweather Sr. made his way back to his son’s camp in Episode 1. Floyd hinted in Episode 2 that the issues between the two stems mainly from Floyd Sr.’s desire to always be in control of what is happening and that Floyd Sr. may try to take over control of the gym at any time.

So while the above explains why Floyd Jr. has rifts with his father, it also explains while he has so much love for his uncle and trainer Roger Mayweather. Roger went on to say that he is not authoritative at all towards Floyd and is much more laid back. This passive attitude on Roger’s part plays a big factor in why the abrasive Floyd Jr. favours his uncle over his father.
